Force and Types of Force Exercise question Solutions :

Question no – (1)

Answer :

(a) Force has to be applied to change the direction of a moving object.

(b) When an elephant drags a wooden log over the land the forces that are applied on the log are Muscular force , gravitational and frictional force.

(c) A ball was set rolling on a large table. If its motion is to be changed a force will have to be applied on it.

(d) The force of friction always acts Along the motion.

Question no – (2)

Answer :

(i) – (c) Muscular force

(ii) – (a) Magnetic force

(iii) – (d) Gravitational force

(iv) – (e) Frictional force

(v) – (b) Electrostatic force.

Question no – (3)

Answer :

(a) An object falling from a tall building

= Gravitational force.

(b) An aeroplane flying in sky

= Here many type of forces are working together like, Mechanical force, muscular force, gravitational force, frictional force.

(c) Squeezing sugarcane juice with a squeezer

= To Squeezing a sugarcane juice with a squeezer total three type forces acting here like – Mechanical force, muscular force and frictional force.

(d) Winnowing food grain

= To Winnowing food grains two type of forces are working one is muscular force and other is gravitational force.

Question no – (4)

Answer :

  • Muscular force :

Muscular forces are the force in which bones and muscles are used to perform movements. The force is applied with the help of bones and muscles is known as muscular motion.

Example : Pulling handcart is good example of Muscular force.

  • Gravitational force :

The force which have earth is known as gravitational force in which earth pulls all objects towards us. All things are on the earth’s are stable on land due to gravitational force.

  • Electrostatic force :

The electrostatic forces are the force which produced due to the materials which develop static electricity on them.

Example :  A comb attract small paper pieces after rubbing on hair is good example of Electrostatic force.

  • The force of friction :

Frictional force is due to friction. When two surfaces are rub against each other then frictional force is produced. This force is known as frictional force.

Example : We can walk on road because our shoes and road surface rub with each other’s and create a frictional force due to that we can walk on road without sleeping on road.

  • Magnetic force :

The force is come out by a magnet is called magnetic force. Magnetic force is used in many gadgets like doorbell.

Question no – (5)

Answer :

(a) Machines are oiled from time to time because –

The machines are work on mechanical force. Machines are work very firstly and used for to save our energy and time. If we cannot oiled machines time to time then the friction is generated there and if this frictional force is increased then the machines work are very slow down and the speed and efficiency of the machines are also slow therefore it is necessary to oiled machines time to time.

(b) An object thrown upwards comes down after reaching a point because –

As we known the gravitational force is present on the earth when an object is thrown upwards then it comes our because gravitational force on the earth pulls the object towards down, therefore an object thrown upwards comes down after reaching a point.

(c) Powder is sprinkled on a carrom board because –

The powder is used for sprinkling on a carom board because powder create frictional force on carom board due to this more frictional gives more smooth surface and coins are move smoothly therefore powder is sprinkled on a carom board.

Question no – (6)

Answer :

(a) Differences between Muscular force and mechanical force are as follows :

  • Muscular force :

Muscular force is generated by our muscles or present in our body.

For generating muscular force energy is required in the form of food.

  • Mechanical force :

Mechanical force is generated by machines

For generating mechanical force energy is required in the form of electricity or fuel.

(b) Differences between force of friction and gravitational force are discus below

  • The force of friction :

The force of friction is created between two rough surfaces.

The frictional force are act opposite to the directional of motion and it is increases or decreases.

  • Gravitational force :

Gravitational force is already present on the earth and its act on the objects present on the earth.

The gravitational force pulls things towards down if they are upwards and it is not increases or decreases.

Question no – (7)

Answer :

(a) Force can we apply on every things like for pulling or pushing objects, riding a bicycle, bending some object we need force, driving vehicle and for performing all other day to day activity we need force.

(b) The gravitational force acting on an object is called the weight of that object.

(c) There are some machines which work on muscular force like plough, handcart, ores of boat, bicycle etc.

Question no – (8)

Answer :

  • Down :

(1) Muscular force is to be applied to push a scooter that has failed.

(2) Magnetic force can be used to pick up scattered pins.

  • Across :

(1) A Magnet pulls an iron nail towards itself.

(3) Mechanical force is used when the farm was ploughed with a tractor.

(4) It is due to the force of gravity that raindrops fall to the ground.
