Disaster Management Exercise question Solutions :

Question no – (1) 

Answer :  

The emergency contact numbers are as follows :

(a) Police control room → 100

(b) Fire brigade → 101

(c) Ambulance → 102

(d) National level single emergency numbers for disaster relief → 108

Question no – (2) 

Answer :  

(a) First aid of a Dog bite as follows : 

Wash the wound with the potassium per magnet solution or other antiseptic. Then cover the wound with dry and clean cloth and then go to doctor for taking an injection.

(b) First aid for Scratches and bleeding : 

If a person is bleeding first thing make that person to sit or lie down, then keep the bleeding part above the level of the heart and clean it with water.

(c) First aid for Burns and scalds :

If burning is minor then wash the injected part with water. clean the wound using cotton swab soaked in antiseptic solution. Cover the wound.

(d) First aid for a Snakebite :

First wash the wound with water then tie the cloth tightly above the wound and call for immediate for medical help.

(e) First aid for a Sunstroke : 

First take the person in cool area or in shade area sponge the whole body with cold water. Give plenty of water to the person.

Answer :  

(a) Causes of Floods :

Floods occur due to excessive rains in the same place a river overflows its banks causing floods.

(b) Causes of Forest fires :

It is caused by naturally or man made and it is uncontrolled fire.

(c) Causes of Land slides and building collapse :

The movements or vibration in the earth crust is called earthquake. The vibration can causes collapse of buildings, and land slide is also take place.

(d) Causes of Storm as follows :

The formation of high and low pressure belts in the atmosphere results in changes in the weather these causes wind storms.

(e) The Causes of Earthquakes :

The movements of the interior earth releases large amount of energy and causes seismic waves leading to movements of earth surface like shaking, cracking and this causes earthquake.

Question no – (4) 

Answer : 

(a) Disasters : A sudden change is causing large damage or change to life ,property and social aspects of a nation or society is called a disaster.

(b) There are two types of disasters natural disaster and man-made disasters.

Example :

  • Man made – Nuclear blast.
  • Natural – Earthquakes.

(c) Disaster management :

Taking proper steps to prevent and making plans to face the like disasters and developing the capacity for facing these type of situations is known as disaster management.

(d) Emergency planning and management are the main components of disaster management.

Question no – (5) 

Answer :  

Work of a Sarpa mitra as follows :

Sarpa mitra are persons who help to save snake. If snake is found in residential area usually people kill that snake before to known about its toxicity so sarpa-mitra are those who known about snakes they make awareness about snakes they also explains the importance of snakes and they save snakes.

Question no – (6) 

Answer :  

The first aid box contain various things such as, scissor, cotton, bandage, ointment, Dettol, medicine, dressing, safety pin etc.
