(a) Rules are made for :  

The traffic rules are followed for the smooth functioning of the traffic. In a similar manner, there are certain social rules that depicts the assigned role of each person. The purpose of social rules is to assign the duties and responsibilities of each member of the society. If these rules are followed, our everyday life becomes disciplined and we can execute our work in a more efficient manner. Rules are not restricted to only few members of the society. Rules are applied equally to everyone. Nobody stands above the rules. Opposition of the rules can lead to penalty.

(b) The values have been a part of our social life since ancient times :

In our lives, we follow several customs and traditions. These traditions are followed by observing our parents, grand parents and other relatives. There prevails various useful customs and traditions in our society. We all unite together at the times of festivals. We always show a warm gesture towards the guests who visit us and we always treat them in a hospitable manner. We show our grace and love towards animals. There are several customs that facilitates us in maintaining the balance of nature. Since ancient times, the values of non-violence and peace have remained an integral part of our social life.

(c) The big obstacles in our society : 

In our society, there prevails certain unjust customs and traditions which gave rise to negligence of some segments of society. They were deprived of education, hence, they were not subjected to the opportunities of development. They also lacked the means of livelihood which is necessary for their subsistence. As a result, they were prone to face poverty. Caste discrimination, gender inequality and lack of education were some of the major barriers in our society. We can only advance towards the path of progress if we can remove these barriers.

Answer :  

(a) Unjust customs have been banned by law : 

Several times, laws have to be framed in order to eradicate wrong and unfair customs. In our country, sati and child marriage were the unjust customs that were eradicated by making laws that prohibited them. The law that prohibited the usage of magical practice for deceiving people was first constituted in Maharashtra. Giving or accepting a dowry has also been prohibited by law.

(b) Laws for the protection of the environment : 

Just as laws are essential in order to maintain equality and justice in society, there are also immense requirement of the laws for the protection of the environment. In many ways, we are dependent on nature. Nature fulfills most of our needs and requirements. There should be ample availability of the natural resources in order to fulfill the requirements of our subsequent generations. Hence, it is necessary to preserve these natural resources. So, we must use them precisely.
