(1) Express as percentage:

(1) (a) ¾ = ¾ x 100% = 75%

(1) (b) 7/15 = 7/15 x 100% = 46 -2/3 %

(1) (c) 4/5 = 4/5 x 100% = 80%

(1) (d) 2- 6/25  = 56/25 x 100% = 224%

(1) (e) 0.25 = 25/100 x 100% = 25%

(1) (f) 0.65 = 65/100 x 100% = 65%

(1) (g) 2.50 = 250/100 x 100%

(1) (h) 3:10 = 3/10 x 100% = 30%

(1) (i) 12:25 = 12/25 x 100% = 48%

(2) Express as fractions and decimals:

(3) Calculate the followings:

(3)(d) 40% of 200cm.

=> 200x 40/100

=> 80cm. Answer.

(4) What is the percentage of Tk.20 of Tk.80?

(a) TK.20 /TK.80 x 100

= 25%

(4) What is the percentage of TK. 75 of TK. 120?

(b) (Tk75/TK. 120x 100)%

= 62.5% Answer.

(5) In a school , there are 500 students. If the girl are 40% determine the number of boys?

Total students = 500

Girls students 40%

Therefore, boys = (100-40) % = 60%

Therefore, boys have = 500 x 60/100

= 300 Answer.

(6) David has obtained 600 marks out of 900 in the terminal examinations. What is the percentage of marks he obtained? Determine the ratio of the total and the obtained marks.

David obtained = 600/900 x 100

= 66.67%

Ratio of marks: obtained marks

= 900: 600

= 9:6

= 3:2 Answer.

(7) Musanna bought a Bengali essay book from book stall at TK. 84. But the cover price of the book was TK. 120. How much commission in percentage has he obtained?

Commission get = (120 – 84)

= TK. 36.

Commission obtained = (36/120 x 100) %

= 30% Answer.

(8) The monthly income of a service holder is TK. 15,000/-. His monthly expenditure is TK. 9000. What is the percentage of the expenditure to the income?

Monthly income of a service holder = TK1500/-

Monthly expenditure = TK. 9000/-

Therefore, (9000/15000 x 100) %

= 60%

(9) The monthly school fees of Shoeb are TK. 200. His mother gives him TK. 20 as tiffin expenses. What is the percentage of expenditure for his daily tiffin to the monthly school fees?

Shoeb monthly school fess = TK. 200

Tiffin expenses = TK. 200

Therefore, (20/200 x 100) %

= 10% Answer.

(10) In a school, there are 800 students. At the beginning of the year, if 5% new students get admitted, what is the number of students at present in that school?

Total students = 800

5% new students admitted.

Therefore, (800 x 5/100)

= 4000

Therefore, total = (800+40) = 840 students present in school.

(11) In a class 5% students were absent out of 200 students. How many students were present?

Total students = 200

5% absent

Therefore (200 x 5/100) 10

Therefore, present = (200-10)= 190.students.

(12) Zahed, buying a book at 10% commission, gave Tk. 180 to the shopkeeper. What is the actual price of the book?

(13) Due to 14-2/7% fall in price, 10 more bananas are available at TK. 420. 

(a) If 14-2/7% of a number is 10 determine the number.

(a) 14 2/7% = 10

=> 100/7 % = 10

1% = 10 x 7/100 x 100

=> 100% = 10 x7/100 x 100

= 70 Answer.

(b) What is the price of one dozen of banana at present?

(b) 420 x 14- 2/7 = 60 Rs/-

10-60

1-60/10 x 12

1 dozen = 72 Rs/-
