(1)Express the following pairs of number as the ratio of the first and second quantities:

(1) (c) 1year 2momths and 7 months

=1 year 2month: 7m

= (12+2) :7

= 14:7

= 2:1 Answer.

(1)(d) 7 kg and 2kg 300 gram

7kg : 2kg 300gm.

= (7×1000) : (2×1000+300)

= 7000:2300

= 70:23 Answer.

(2)Simplify the following ratios:

= 3:4

(2) (b) 15:21

= 5:7

(2) (c) 45: 36

= 15:12

= 5:4

(2)(d) 65:26

= 5:2 Answer.

(3) Fill in the gaps of the following equivalent ratios:

(4) The ratio of length and breadth of a hall room is 2:5. Putting the possible values of length and breadth in the gaps, complete the following table.

(5) Identify the equivalent ratios of the followings:

Solution:- 12:18 = 2:3

6:18 = 2:6

= 1:3

15:10 = 3:2

3:2 = 3:2

6:9 = 2:3

2:3 = 2:3

1:3 =1:3

2:6 = 1:3

12:8 = 3:2

Therefore, 12:18; 6:9; 2:3 are equivalent

6:18, 2:6, 1:3 are equivalent

15:10, 3:2’ 12:8 are equivalent.

(7) Express the ratio 9:16 as inverse ratios:

Solution:- 9:16 — Inverse Ratio = 16:9

(14) The ratio of time of coming and going to school from houses of two friends is 2:3. If the distance of school from the house of the first friend is 5 km., what is the distance of school from the house of the second friend?

(15) The ratio of milk and sugar in frumenty is 7:2. In frumenty the quantity of sugar is 4kg. What is the quantity of milk?

(16) The ratio of the prices of two computers is 5:6. If the price of the first computer is TK. 25,000/-, what is the price of the second computer? In case of price hike if the price of the first computer is increased by TK. 5,000/-, what type of ratio of their prices will be?
