Growth and Personality Development Exercise question Solutions :

Question no – (1) 

Answer :

Kabir should develop a keen interest in studying science subjects. Kabir should start collecting information from a variety of books and magazines which will help him to enhance his knowledge. He should lay emphasis on his studies, So that he can get admission in science stream because zoology is a science subject. He should make a habit of watching different birds and animals and should also collect their photos. Kabir have to obtain a M.Sc. degree and after that Ph. D, So in order to acquire these higher degrees, he have to concentrate on his studies with all interests and dedication which will enable him to become a professor of zoology.

Question no – (2) 

Answer :

(a) There should be sufficient strength in the legs which will help in paddling the cycle. In order to balance the bicycle, the overall body should be strong and fit. Whenever we are riding the bicycle, we should possess the ability to spin the handle of the cycle. When we are riding the bicycle, we should be aware of the traffic movement in order to prevent any accidents. In order to ride a bicycle, it is essential to have a full control over our body, especially over legs, hands, neck and eyes.

(b) A lot of people will be required in order to operate a restaurant. So, Suman should possess the ability to associate and work collectively with the staff. From now onward, she should obtain proficiency in purchasing food stuffs and other items. She should also develop a habit of cooking different food items. So she should start collecting information about different recipes, she should also be aware of the market price of different groceries. She should be responsible enough to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant. From this moment, whenever she is visiting any restaurants, she should acutely watch the co-ordination and functions of the hotels.

Question no – (3) 

Answer :  

(a) The alikeness in appearance and certain characteristics of individuals to their family members is termed as heredity. These traits are inherited from our ancestors. Though we may have several traits that are common with our family members but we do not possess any control over which trait we will inherit.

(b) The children of pre-primary classes usually falls under the age group of four to six years whereas, the children of Std V generally falls under the age group of ten to eleven years. The capabilities and proficiency of pre-primary children are not well developed as compared with that of the 5th standard children. The 5th standard children are physically more stronger than the pre-primary children. The understanding and maturity level of the pre-primary children are quite limited. They are unable to go to school on their own and they may also fall if they try to run. The 5th standard children on the other hand, can do many tasks independently like taking bath, brushing their teeth, wearing clothes, commuting to school, making calculations etc. The physical and mental ability of the 5th standard children are also more enhanced in comparison to the pre-primary children.

(c) From birth to adulthood, several changes takes place in our body. At the time of birth, we are at the infancy stage and our weight is also extremely less. There is no physical strength during the stage of infancy but at young age , our physical strength increases and we can also execute several actions. The growth takes place in a gradual manner, like for instance, there is tooth eruption, transformation in the body structures, height and weight increases rapidly and there is also growth in hair. There is development of the brain from birth upto the age of six years. In a later age, the brain takes a complex structure. At the phase of childhood, there is a continuous process of growth till certain age. Some hormonal changes also takes place during this period. We become mature, after some years and we enter the phase of adulthood at the age of twenty-one years.

(d) The three skills that I have acquired are :

  • Problem solving
  • Communication
  • Leadership.

(e) Physical growth :

Physical growth refers to increase in height and weight of a child. Due to physical growth, there is an increase in proficiency and physical strength of the body. There are also other bodily changes that takes place when the child begins to mature.

Question no – (4) 

Answer :  

(a) A baby gradually learns to perform newly learnt tasks without making mistakes

This statement is False.

Reason : Babies fall several times, when they learn to walk.

(b) At birth, we already have all skills

This statement is False.

Reason : At birth, we do not possess all skills

(c) We cannot manage all our tasks entirely by ourselves

This statement is True.

Reason : It is not possible for us to manage all our works completely by ourselves.

(d) Our height increases from birth till we grow old

This statement is False.

Reason : Our height stops increasing after we attain the age of 18-20 years.
