**Fractions Self Practice 5j Solution : **

**Question no – (1) **

**Solution : **

As per the question,

Area = 1 4/5 km²

**∴** 1 4/5 km² as improper fraction,

= 9/5 km²

**Question no – (2) **

**Solution : **

Total budget of business = 1

**∴ **Rest money

= 1 – (2/5 + 1/12 + 2/25)

= 1 – (120 + 25 + 24/300)

= 1 – (169/300)

= 300 – 169/300

= 131/300

Therefore, Anil spend more on advertising.

**Question no – (3) **

**Solution : **

As per the given question,

Sumer ran 1/3 km on Monday

and 3 1/4 km on Tuesday

**∴ **Total run of Sumer,

= 1/3 + 3 1/4

= 1/3 + 13/4

= 4 + 39/12

= 43/12

= 3 7/12 km

Hence, Sumer ran 3 7/12 km on the two days

**Question no – (4) **

**Solution : **

According to the question,

Coin is tossed = 100 time

Heads appear = 55 times

fraction of the total are tails = ?

**∴ **Tails fraction,

= 100/55

= 20/11

= 1 9/11

Therefore, 1 9/11 of the total are tails.

**Question no – (5) **

**Solution : **

As per the question we know,

Crowd sat at the pavilion = 3/4

Sat on the grass = 1/8

Crowd was standing = ?

**∴** Standing crowd,

= 1 – (3/4 – 1/8)

= 1 – (6 – 1/8)

= 1 – 5/8

= 8 – 5/8

= 3/8

Therefore, 3/8 crowd was standing.

**Question no – (6) **

**Solution : **

According to the question,

Sales in the morning = 3/8

Sales in the afternoon = 7/10

Sales in the evening = 3/16

**∴** 7/10 > 3/8 > 3/16

Therefore, most of her sales occur in afternoon.

**Question no – (7) **

**Solution : **

Remain fraction,

= 1 – (1/5 + 1/3 + 1.4)

= 1 – (12 + 20 + 15/60)

= 1 – 47/60

= 60 – 47/60

= 13/60

**∴**** Remain pages,**

= 240 × 13/60

= 52 pages

Hence, 52 pages remain to be read.

**Question no – (8) **

**Solution : **

Shekher jogs,

= 1 1/4 + 2 1/8 + 1 1/20

= 5/4 + 17/8 + 21/20

= 50 + 85 + 42/40

= 177/40 km

**∴**** One round less then 5 km,**

= 5 – 177/40

= 200 – 177/40

= 23/40 km

Therefore, the is one round less than 23/40 km

**Question no – (9) **

**Solution : **

As per the question, Sudhir walk = 3/5 km

**∴ **Prem walk,

= 3/5 – 7/20

= 12 – 7/20

= 5/20 km

**∴** Rohan walk,

= 5/20 + 5/8

= 10 + 25/40

= 35/40

= 7/8 km

Therefore, Rohan walk 7/8 km and Prem will walk 7/8 km.

**Question no – (10) **

**Solution : **

Rest journey remains,

= 1 – (1/8 + 2/5 + 3/10)

= 1 – (5 + 16 + 12/40)

= 1 – 33/40

= 40 – 33/40

= 7/40 km

Now, before breakfast journey,

= 80 × 1/8

= 10 km

Between breakfast and lunch journey,

= 80 × 2/5

= 36 km

Between breakfast and tea journey,

= 80 × 3/10

= 24 km

Rest lunch remaining journey,

= 80 × 7/40

= 14 km
