Unitary Method Exercise 10.1 Solution

Question no – (1) 

Solution : 

As per the question,

20 chocolates cost = 320

1 chocolates cost = 320/20

35 chocolates cost,

= 320/20 × 35

= 560 Rs.

Therefore, the cost of 35 such chocolates is Rs. 560.

Question no – (2) 

Solution : 

40 m cloth cost = 200

1 m cloth cost = 200/40

50 m cloth cost,

= 200/40 × 50

= 250

Thus, the cost of 50 metres of cloth is Rs 250.

Question no – (3) 

Solution : 

36 litres cover = 522 km

1 litres cover = 522/36

14 litres cover,

= 522/36 × 14

= 203 km

Therefore, It can travel 203 km on 14 litres of petrol.

Question no – (4) 

Solution : 

Travelling 900 km by rail cost = Rs. 280

1 km by rail cost = 280/900 Rs

360 km by rail cost,

= 280/900 × 360

= Rs 112

Therefore, the fare for a journey of 360 km is Rs 112.

Question no – (5) 

Solution : 

According to the question,

6 tankers filled by a pipe in = 4 1/2 hour

1 tankers filled by a pipe in = (4 1/2)/6

4 tankers filled by a pipe in,

= 9/2 × 1/6 × 4

= 3 hour

Thus, the pipe take 3 hour to fill 4 such oil tankers.

Question no – (6) 

Solution : 

As per the question,

3/4 of salary per month = 600

Salary per month,

= 60 × 4/3

= 800

Therefor, the salary per month will be Rs. 800

Question no – (7) 

Solution : 

According to the question,

₹23, 520 can be purchased for = 32 tablets

1 can be purchased for = 32/23, 520

51450 can be purchased for,

= 32/23, 520 × 51, 450

= 70 tables

Thus, 70 of such tables that can be purchased for Rs 51450.

Question no – (8) 

Solution : 

As per the question,

280 quintal from = 6 hectares.

1 quintal from = 6/280 hectares.

225 quintal from,

= 6/280 × 225

= 135/28

= 4 23/28 hectares

Hence, 4 23/28 hectares required for a yield of 225 quintals.

Question no – (9) 

Solution : 

From the question we get,

15 card cost = 2.25

1 card cost = 2.25/15

36 card cost,

= 2.25/15 × 36

= 225 ×36/15 × 100

= 54/10

= 5.40

Now, ₹ 2.25 for = 15 card

₹1 for = 15/2.25

45 for,

= 15/2.25 × 45

= 15 × 45/225 × 100

= 300

So, the cost of 36 post cards is 5.40 and, we buy 300 post card in 45 Rs.

Question no – (10) 

Solution : 

In the given question,

Journey of 75 km cost = 215

Journey of 1 km cost = 215/15

Journey of 120 km cost,

= 215/75 × 120

= 344

Therefore, a journey of 120 km cost 44 Rs.

Question no – (11) 

Solution : 

Given in the question,

Tax for Rs60 is = 4.20

Tax for Rs 1 is = 4.20/60

Tax for 150 is,

= 4.20/60 × 100

= 105/10

= Rs10.5

Hence, tax on the purchase worth of Rs. 150 is Rs 10.5.

Question no – (12) 

Solution : 

52 packet of 12 pencils each cost = Rs 499.20

1 packet of 12 pencils each cost,

= 499.20/52

= 9.6

1 packet of each cost,

= 9.6/12

= 0.8

The 65 packet of 10 pencils each,

= 0.8 × 65 × 10

= 65 × 80

= Rs 520

Therefore, the cost of 65 packets of 10 pencils each is Rs. 520
