Let, total land = 1

Use for road park = 2/5

Use for community hall = 3/8

∴ Rest for apartment,

= 1 – (2/5 – 3/8)

= 1 – (16-15/40)

Question no – (11)

Solution :

2 x/4 + 4 1/4 = 6 1/2

Or, 8+x/4 + 17/16 = 13/2

Or, 8+x/4 = 13/2 – 17/16 = 104 – 17/16 = 87/16

= 5/8 + 3 + 77/36 + 27/24

= 45 + 3 + 154 + 81/72

= 283/72

= 3 67/72

(d) 5 3/5 + 2 2/10 + 3 1/15 + 4 3/25

= 28/5 + 22/10+46/15 + 103/25

= 22 – 89 + 76/8

= 9/8

Question no – (4)

Solution :

(15 1/2 + 6 3/4) – (13 1/2 + 6 2/3)

= (31/2 + 27/4) – (27/2 + 20/3)

= (62 + 27/4) – (81 + 40/6)

= 89/4 – 121/6

= 83/4 + 21/2

= 83 + 42/4

= 85/4

Question no – (7)

Solution :

Let, total pocket money = 1

Spent for science friction Book = 2/5

Spent for news paper = 1/6

Spent for recreation = 2/15

∴ Money left,

= 1 – (2/5 + 1/6 + 2/15)

= 1 – (12 + 5 + 4/30)

= 1 – (21//30)

= 30 – 21/30

= 9/30

= 3/10

Solution :

Fraction of powerplay,

= 6/20

= 3/10

Fraction of rest over bowled,

= (20 – 6)/20

= 14/20

= 7/10

∴ Difference of them,

= 7/10 – 3/10

= 4/10

= 2/5

Question no – (9)

Solution :

Let, total children = 1

Numbers of children in primary section = 2/3

Numbers of children in middle section = 3/10

Numbers of children in secondary section,

= 1 – (2/3 + 3/10)

= 1 – (20 + 9/30)

= 1 – 29/30

= 30 – 29/30

= 1/30

Question no – (10)

Solution :

Let, total garden = 1

Land used for flowers = 1/5

Land used for jogging track = 2/7

Land used open land,

= 1 – (1/5 + 2/7)

= 1 – (7 + 10/35)

= 1 – 17/35

= 35 – 17/35

= 18/35
