Question no – (2)

Solution :

(a) In the given question,

There is 15 kg of sugar

sugar into one packet = 1/7

Packets can be made = ?

Now, Each packet contains,

= 15 × 1/7

= 15/7 kg

Packet can be made from 15 kg

= 15 ÷ 15/7

= 15 × 7/15 (Change ÷ into × and invert 15/7)

= 7 packet

So, 7 packets can be made.

(b) 4/9 of the distance cover is,

= 8 minute …(according to the question)

1 of the distance cover is,

= 8 × 9/4

= 18 minute

So, time take to reach grandma’s house is 18 minute.

(c) Given in the question,

A mother distributes sweets = 1/4 kg

Total children = 5

Now,

= 1/4 kg

= 1000/4

= 250 g

Each child get

= 250/5

= 50 g

Thus, each child will get 50 g of sweets.

(d) = 3/12 ÷ 9/84 …(According to the question)

= 3/12 × 84/9 ….(Change ÷ into × and invert 9/84)

= 7/3

Now, = 7/3 × 9/14

= 3/2

(e) = 3.50 = 350 paisa (∵ we know, 1 rupee = 100 paisa)

= 10 × 35

= 10 × 70/2

= 700/2

So, 3.50 as a fraction of ten rupees is 700/2

(f) In the question,

Cost of 6 2/3 kg of rice is = ₹24 2/3.

Cost of 1 kg of rice = ?

Now,

= 6 2/3

= 20/3 ….(change mixed numbers into improper fractions)

20/3 kg cost 75/3

1 kg cost 75/3 ÷ 20/3

= 75/3 × 3/20 …(Change ÷ into × and invert 20/3)

= 15/4

So, the cost of 1 kg of rice will be Rs. 15/4
