Given, 7/40

= (7/40 × 100)

= 17.5 %

Percentages Exercise 9B Solution :

Question no – (1)

Solution :

(a) 6% of 350

= 6/100 × 350

= 210/10

= 21

(b) 6 1/5 of 200 /

= 6 1/5%

= 31/5 × 1/100 × 200

= 62/5

= 12.4

(c) 2 1/4% of 6 hour 40 minutes

∴ 6 hour 45 min = (6 × 60) + 40min

= 360 + 40

= 400 min

∴ 2 1/45 = 9/4%

= 9/4 × 1/100 × 400

= 9

(d) 7/8 % of 78m

= 7/8 × 1/100 × 78

= 2 + 3/4 × 1/100

= 68.25/100 m

= 0.6825 m

Solution :

(a) 25 hours of 5 days

5 days = 5 × 24 hour

= 120 hour

∴ (25/120 × 100)%

(b) 25 cm of 200 m

∴ (25/100 × 1/200 × 100)%

= 1/85

= 0.125%

(c) 200 gm of 2 kg

∴ 200gm= 200/1000kg

∴ (20/100 × 1/2 × 100) %

= 10%

(d) 700 paise of ₹7

∴ 700 paise = 700/100 rupee

∴ (7/7 × 100) %

= 100%

Solution :

(a) 40 as a percentage of 80

= (40/80 × 100)%

= 50%

(b) Rs 50 as a percentage of Rs 25

= (50/25 × 100)%

= 200%

(c) 34 | as percentage of 100 |

=(34/100 × 100)%

= 34%

(d) 45 m as percentage of 80 m

= (45/80 × 100)%

= 225/4%

Solution :

∴ Total employee = 250,

Female = 150

∴ Percentage,

= (150/250 × 100)

= 60%

Question no – (5)

Solution :

= (240 × 20/100)

= 48

Therefore, total 48 employee’s are unpaid.

Solution :

= (450/600 ×10)

= 75%

Therefore, he scores 75% mark.

Question no – (7)

Solution :

∴ Total students = 2000, 40% girls

∴ There are

= (40/100 × 2000)

= 800

Therefore, there are total 800 girls in that school.

Solution :

∴ (12 × 25/100)

= 3

Therefore, 3 pickle’s are left in the jar

Question no – (9)

Solution :

∴ Total toothpicks = 120, 20% are used

∴ (120 × 20/100)

= 24 toothpicks are used

∴ (120 – 24)

= 96

Therefore, now, I have 96 toothpicks.

Question no – (10)

Solution :

= 12 × 52/100 ∴ 12 × (100 – 52)/100

= 12 × 48/100 = 5.76 kg copper.

Question no – (11)

Solution :

∴ 20 × 10/100

= 2 Cups are melted.

∴ (20 – 2)

= 18

Therefore, only 18 cups are good.
