Here in this post students will get chapter 5 solutions.
Playing with Numbers Exercise 5.1 Solution :
Question no – (1)
Solution :
(a) 3 × 52 × a = a × 2 × 78
= 156a = 156a
= a = any real no
(b) 5a – 25 = 50
= 5a = 50 + 25
= a = 75/5
= 15
Question no – (2)
Solution :
(a) 4 × 9 × 1 = 2 × 3 × 6
(b) 34 × 2 × 9 = 612
Question no – (3)
Solution :
(a) 56 × 6 = 3 3 6
(b) 23 × 2 × 8 = 3 6 8
Question no – (4)
Solution :
(a) 3 × 0 × 6 = 180
Question no – (5)
Solution :
(a) 2ab2 × b = 789a
= 2 a b 2
× b
————————-
Now, 2 3 3 2
× 3
————————-
7 8 9 6
∴ a = 6 8 b = 3
(b) aaa × 4 = 1aa2
= a a a
× 4
————————-
1 a a 2
Now, 3 3 3
× 4
————————-
1 3 3 2
∴ a = 3
(c) a34 × b = 1638
= a 3 4
× b
————————-
1 6 3 8
2 3 4
7
————————-
1 6 3 8
∴ a = 2 8 b = 7
(d) aaa × 6 = 3330
= a a a
× 6
————————-
5 5 5
6
————————-
3 3 3 0
∴ a = 5
Playing with Numbers Exercise 5.2 Solution :
Question no – (1)
Solution :
3 × 3 magic square,
Magic sum = 93
= 93/3
= 31
Magic Square :
26 | 51 | 16 |
21 | 31 | 41 |
46 | 11 | 36 |
Question no – (2)
Solution :
4 × 4 Magic square,
35 | 21 | 22 | 32 |
24 | 30 | 29 | 27 |
28 | 26 | 25 | 31 |
23 | 33 | 24 | 20 |
Question no – (3)
Solution :
(a) 120
= Divisible by 2, 3, 5 unit digit 0, divisible by 2, 1 + 2 + 0 = 3 ÷ 3 = 1
∴ Divisible by 3, 0, 5 (unit digit) divisible by 5
(b) 729
= Divisible by 3
(c) 200
= Divisible by 2 5 5
(d) 1050
= Divisible by 2, 3, 5
(e) 714
= Divisible by 2 and 3
Question no – (4)
Solution :
Number | Divisible by 2 | Divisible by 3 | Divisible by 5 | Divisible by 9 | Divisible by 10 |
244 | Yes | No | No | No | No |
216 | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | No |
900 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
468 | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | No |
207 | No | Yes | No | Yes | No |
215 | No | No | Yes | No | No |
Question no – (5)
Solution :
32a5 = 3 + 2 + a + 5
= 10 + a
= 10 + 2
= 12 ÷ 3
= 4
10 + 5
= 15 ÷ 3
= 5
10 + 8
= 18 ÷ 3
= 6
∴ a = 2
∴ a = 5, 8
Question no – (6)
Solution :
= 56b ÷ 9
= (5 + 6 + b) ÷ 9
= (11 + b) ÷ 9
= (11 + 7) ÷ 9
= 18 ÷ 9
= 2
∴ b = 7
Thus, the possible value of digit b is 7
Question no – (7)
Solution :
= 8a6 ÷ 11
= {(8 + 6) – a} ÷ 11
= (14 – a) ÷ 11
= (14 – 3) ÷ 11
= 11 ÷ 11
= 1
∴ a = 3
Hence, the possible value of digit a is 3.
Question no – (8)
Solution :
6 = 2 × 3
Now, 456 ÷ 2 = 278
= 456 ÷ 3 = 152
and 456 ÷ 6 = 76
But, 789 is not divisible by 2
789 ÷ 3 = 263
Therefore, 789 is not divisible by 6
