Solution :

Let we should add x

∴ 1 2/5 + x = 3 2/7

=> 7/5 + x = 23/7

=> X = 23/7 – 7/5

= 11 – 49/35

= 66/35

Question no – (2)

Solution : 

Let, we should subtract x

=> 12 1/5 – x = 11 3/4

=> 61/5 – x = 47/4

=> x = 61/5 – 47/7

= 244 – 235/20

= 9/20

Question no – (3)

Solution : 

(a) 13/24 × 8/11

= 13/33

(b) 12/15 × 1 2/7

= 12/15 × 9/7

= 36/35

(c) 10/13 × 1 3/5

= 10/13 × 8/5

(c) (10/15 – 1/3) ÷ 1/5 + 22/30 – 38/45

(10/15 – 1/3) ÷ 1/5 + 22/30 – 38/45

= 1/3 ÷ 1/5 + 22/30 – 38/45

= 5/3 + 22/30 – 38/45

= 75 + 33 – 38/45

= 70/45

= 14/9

(d) (4/5 + 2/3 – 14/27) + 5/6 ÷ 7/12 × 24/35

= 4/9 + 5/6 × 12/7 × 24/35

(e) 1/3 × 5/6 ÷ (11/17 + 13/17) – 5/34

= 1/3 × 5/6 ÷ 24/17 – 5/34

= 1/3 × 5/6 × 17/24 – 5/34

= 85/432 – 5/34

= 1445 – 1080/7344

= 365/7344

(f) [{(1/2 + 7/9) ÷ 23/18} – 1 + 1/2 – 3/6] + 4

= [{(9 + 14/18) ÷ 23/18} – 2 + 1/2 – 3/6] + 4

= [23/18 × 18/23 – 3/2 – 3/6] + 4

= [1 – 3/2 – 1/2] + 4

= 2 – 3 – 1/2 + 4

= – 2/2 + 4

= – 1 + 4

= 3

Fractions Exercise 3C all Question Solutions :

Question no – (1)

Solution :

Road length – 16 8/11m

= 184/11m

Cut length – 4/11m

∴ we cut = 184/11 × 11/4

= 46 pieces

Question no – (2)

Solution :

Water in the container – 3 3/9 L = 97/3L bottles capacity = 3/5 L

∴ 97/3 × 5/3

= 485/9

∴ 53 8/9 bottles filled.

Question no – (3)

Solution :

Weight of the packet – 83 8/13kg

= 1087/13kg

weight of 15 1/6

= 91/6 packets will be – 1087/13 × 91/6

= 7609/6

1268 1/6kg

Question no – (4)

Solution :

One bottles holds – 38/43kg

∴ 25 bottles holds = 25 × 38/43

= 350/43kg

Question no – (5)

Solution :

Price of 1 L Juice = 98 1/2

= 197/2 Rs

34 1/4 L = 137/4 L juice price = 197/2 × 137/4

= 26989/8

∴ 1268 1/6kg
