Sum of = (2 1/5 + 14 5/16)

= (55/9 + 17/5 + 65/16)

= 4400 + 2449 + 2925/720

= 9774/720

Subtract = (1321/80 – 9774/720)

Solution :

(a)  Sum = (5 1/12 + 3/23

= (61/12 + 11/3)

= 61 + 44/12

= 105/12

= 8 9/12

Difference = (5 1/12 – 3 2/3)

= 61/12 – 11/3

= 61 – 44/12

= 17/12

∴ 8 9/12 ÷  17/12

= 105/12 × 12/17

= 6 3/17

(c) Other fraction = 11/27 ÷ 4/9

= 28/27 ÷ 4/9

(a) 5 1/2 of (2/3 – 3/5) + 1/2 ÷ 3/11

= 36/7+ [17 + {33/10 × 10/21}

= 36/7 + [17/3 + 11/7]

= 108 + 152/21

= 260/21

(d) 3/10 of 91/3 + 7/12) ÷ (5/6 – 2/5)

= 3/10 of (4 + 7/12) ÷ (25 – 12/30)

(e) (1/2 – 1/3) of (2/3 – 3/5) × (4/5 – 7/15)

(f) (3/5 – 2/15) ÷ (9/25 ÷ 1/5) + (7/10 – 1/5)

= 35/12 + 5/10

= 175 + 30/60

(g) 9 1/2 – [7 1/2 + {4 – (5 – 2)}]

= 19/2 – [15/2 + {4 – 95 – 2)}]

= 19/2 – [15/2 + 1

= 19/2 – [15 + 2/2]

= 19/2 – 17/2

= 19 – 17/2

= 2/2

(h) (2/5 + 1/7) ÷ (1/5 – 1/8) – 5/21

= (14 + 5/35) ÷ (98 – 5/40) – 5/21

= 19/35 ÷ 3/40- 5/21

= 152/21 – 5/21

Question no – (1)

Solution :

Measure of one side = 16 1/2 ÷ 4

= 33/2 × 1/4

= 33/8

= 4 1/8 m

Question no – (2)

Solution :

Cost of 1 kg rice = 150 ÷ 3 3/4

= 150 ÷ 15/4

= 150 × 4/5

= 40 Rs

Question no – (3)

Solution :

Packets = (10 kg ÷ 1 1/4)

= (10 ÷ 5/4)

= (10 × 4/5)

= 8 packets

Question no – (4)

Solution :

Total pieces = (15 ÷ 3/4)

= 15 × 4/3

= 20 pieces

Solution :

Number, be x

= 1/5 × x = 132

= x = 132 × 5

Girls = (40 × 3/5)

Running, = (1 – 53/80)

27/80 =  540

Solution :

Let, the capacity = x

= 3/4x – 12 = 5/12x

= 3/4x – 5/12x =  12

=  9x – 5x/12 =  12

=  4x =  12 × 12

= x = 12 × 12/4

= x =  36 litre

Therefore,  the capacity of the can will be 36 litre.

Solution :

Broken eggs = (52 × 6/13)

=  24 eggs.

Left = (52 – 24)

=  28 eggs

Thus, there are 24 eggs are left.

Question no – (12)

Solution :

Bharat covered = ( 1 – 2/5)

= 5 – 2/5

= 3/5th

Let, total length =  1

3/5th journey = 210

= 3 = 210 × 5

=  1 = 210 × 5/3

= 350 km

Therefore, the total length of Bharat journey was 350 km.
