Fractions Exercise 3.1 Solution :

Question no – (1)

Solution :

(a) 3/5 × 5

=  3

(b) 2/3 × 6

= 4

(c) 12/24 × 21

= 21/2

= 10 1/2

(e) 2 4/5 × 21

= 14/5 × 21

= 58 4/5

Question no – (2)

Solution :

Number of Red flowers,

= (15 × 3/5)

= 9

9 red flowers are arranged in the vase.

Question no – (3)

Solution :

Amount Spent on book,

= (500 × 3/10)

= 150

The amount spent on the book is Rs 150.

Question no – (4)

Solution :

Number of hours spent in school,

= (1/3 × 24) h

= 8 h

Time spent in school is 8 hours.

Fractions Exercise 3.2 Solution :

Question no – (1) 

Solution : 

(a) 2 3/5 + 1 1/5

= 9/5 + 6/5

= 15/5

= 3

(b) 7/12 + 9/16

= 28 +27/48

= 55/48

= 1 7/48

(c) 1 4/15 + 1 3/20

= 19/15 + 29/20

= 76 + 69/60

= 145/60

= 2 25/60

= 2 5/12

(d) 3 1/3 + 4 1/4

= 10/3 + 17/4

= 40 + 51/12

= 91/12

Question no – (2) 

Solution : 

(a) 4 3/7 – 2 4/7

= 31/7 – 18/7

= 31 – 18/7

= 13/7

= 1 6/7

(b) 1/2 – 3/8

= 4 – 3/8

= 1/8

(c) 2 3/10 – 1 7/15

= 23/10 – 22/15

= 69 – 44/30

= 25/30

= 5/6

(d) 10 – 6 3/8

= 10 21/8

= 80 – 21/8

= 59/8

=  7 3/8

Question no – (3) 

Solution : 

(a) 4/8 × 18

= 9

(b) 3 × 3 1/5

= 3 × 16/5

= 48/5

= 9 3/5

(c) 2 5/15 × 5/10

= 35/15 × 5/10

= 7/6

= 1 1/6

(d) 6/10 × 1 2/100

= 6/10 × 102/100

= 15/250

Question no – (4) 

Solution : 

(a) 45 ÷ 5/9

= 45 ÷ 9/5

= 81

(b) 5/20 ÷ 12/5

= 5/20 × 5/12

= 5/48

(c) 1 6/15 ÷ 7/30

= 21/15 × 30/7

= 6

(d) 18/10 ÷ 9/10

= 18/10 × 10/9

= 2

Fractions Exercise 3.3 Solution :

Question no –  (1)

Solution : 

Total Wheat Sell :

= (7 1/2 + 9 1/2 + 5 1/5 + 25 1/5)

= 46 + (1/2 + 1/2 + 1/5 + 1/5)

= 46 + (5 + 5 2 +2/10 )

= 46 + 14/10

= 47 4/10

= 47 2/5

Now, total Wheat left,

= (100 1/2 – 47/ 2/5)

= (100 – 47) + (1/2 – 2/5)

= 53 + (5-4/10)

= 53 1/10 kg

53 1/10 kg of wheat is left in the sack.

Question no – (2)

Solution : 

As per the given question,

Cost of 1 litre milk is = Rs 35.50

Now, lets find the cost of 15 1/2 litre milk,

= (35.50 × 15 /12)

= 3500/100 × 31/2

= 550.25 Rs

So, the cost of 15 1/2 litre milk will be Rs 550.25

Question no – (3)

Solution :

Raju solve problems correctly,

= (24 × 3/4)

= 18 problems.

Question no – (4)

Solution : 

Number of small cable pieces,

= 11 1/5 ÷ 1 2/5

=  56/5 ÷ 75

=  56/5 × 5/7

=  8 pieces.

Therefore, number small cable pieces will be 8 pieces.

Question no – (5)

Solution : 

Total weigh,

=  (15 1/2 × 3/4)

= 31/2 × 3/4

= 93/8

= 11 5/8 kg.

So, total weigh of box8 kg.

Question no – (6)

Solution : 

Each one get,

= (15 1/2 ÷ 6)

= 31/2 × 1/6

= 31/12

= 2 7/12

Each one will get 2 7/12 sweets.
