Chapter 1.2 : Odd One In Exercise question Solutions

Question no – (2) 

Answer : 

  • Malti :

Appearance : Malti was a simple girl who used to wear bindi and put oil on hair.
Studies : she was intelligent, quiet and studious. She was very brilliant in mathematics in the whole class.

Singing : she had a well-trained, melodious voice. Everyone admired her excellent singing and also won first prize in Hindi song category.

Attitude to others : she was very kind and helpful person. She became easily befriended with almost all girls in class.

Weak points : her only weak point is English pronunciation. Her weak accent became the reason of being bullied in school.

  • Rima :

Appearance : rima was modern who live in a urban society. She was stylish with her urban lifestyle.

Studies : she was not so bright in studies like Malti. Though she was good in English.

Singing : she sang her English song well in competition but could not reach the level of Malti.

Attitude to others : she liked to have fun by mimicking or insulting others with their weak points. She also feel jealous for other students’ improvement.

Weak points : she had lack of manners. She never thought again before hurting others. She was dominating, stubborn and unkind in nature.

Question no – (3) 

Answer : 

I am Malti and came to the new school with lots of excitement. I like help my friends in study or whenever they need help. I like mathematics very much and when I see any of my friends face trouble with sums I always try to help them out. With it they also feel encouragement to practice mathematics more which gives me pleasure.

Question no – (4) 

Answer : 

Sometimes : I ask for help from my classmates in studies and other things too.

Never : I never refuse other for help if I can. If I can’t then I tell them politely. I never judge others by their appearance as everyone is god’s creature. Every individual is unique and beautiful in their own way. I also never judge others by their accent. Nobody is perfect and everyone can improve by reducing their difficulties.

Answer : 

  • My strengths :

I like mathematics.

I like to make friends and help them in need.

I am also good in singing and like to sing classical Hindi songs.

  • My weaknesses :

My English accent is poor.

I got emotional when one insults me.

I don’t understand tricks and how to react in time.

  • The changes that I would like to see in myself :

I want to be a strong and mature girl in future.

I also want to see myself confident with English accent.

I want to be smart enough to understand others.

Question no – (6) 

Answer : 

Yes, I think it is important to develop good accent for near future. One may have to go other countries for higher studies or better career opportunities where they will find people with different languages.

I will practice speaking regularly in short conversation with my teacher’s help. I will also see English movies to understand and enhance my knowledge about accent.

Question no – (7) 

Answer : 

All the adverbs that end with -ly are as follows :

Specially, quietly, rudely, cattily, correctly, uncharitably, sharply, sadly, beautifully, abundantly, readily, cheerfully, stubbornly, particularly, mercilessly, roundly, badly.
