(a) The first systematic explanation of the concept of evolution was given by Charles Darwin.

Answer : 

(a) The species which possessed the ability to adapt to environmental changes are likely to survive but the ones that are unable to do so, become extinct in the process of evolution. Some sudden natural disaster or environmental changes are considered to be one of the primary reasons for the extinction of enormous dinosaurs.

(b) In the process of survival, certain internal physical changes takes place in some species of animals by adapting to environmental changes. Over a course of time, these internal physical changes become inherent characteristics that are seen in almost all consequent generations. So in this way, a new species with characteristics different from the original species is created.
