Ans:- The process by which green plants prepare their own food in presence of sunlite is called photosynthesis.
(b) Why dose photosynthesis occur mainly in leaf?
Ans:- Photosynthesis mainly occurs in leaf because —-
(i) As leaf is flat and extended it can absorb large amount of sunlite and carbon-di-oxide within a short time.
(ii) There are plenty of chlorophylls available in leaf.
(iiii) Leaf contains a large number of stomata that eases gaseous exchange during photosynthesis.
(c) Why is candle in bell jar p burning?
The plant in bell jar p needs light for serv-iving so the candle in bell jar p is burning, which is used as a source of light.
(d) Will the plant in bell jar Q survive in the condition shown in the picture? Give reasons supporting your answer.
Ans:- No, the plant in bell jar Q will not survive in the condition shown in the picture. Because there is no source of light. Due to the absence of source of light, the plant can not do the process of photosynthesis.

Ans:- In this world; the sun is the source of all energy.
(b) Why dose photosynthesis not take place at night?
Ans:- Photosynthesis dose not take place at night because this process needs source of light which is sunlight only in the day time.
(c) How is the compound S produced in the reaction given in the stem. Give explanation.
Ans:- The compound S is produced by the reaction of sunlight, carbo di-oxide and water during photosynthesis.
(d)Analyse the importance of the above reaction in the animal world.
Ans:- During photosynthesis plant absorb the harmful carbon di-oxide and produce oxygen and let off the essential oxygen in to the atmosphere. Plant makes the environment pollution free. The existence of life is totally dependent on the reaction of photosynthesis. So the above reaction is very important in the animal world.
