Simplifications and Average Exercise 9.1 Solution
Question no – (1)
Solution :
(a) 24 ÷ 2 + 5
= 12 + 5
= 17
So, the value is 17
(b) 6 + 15 ÷ 3
= 6 + 5
= 11
So, the value is 11
(c) 33 ÷ 3 – 11
= 11 – 11
= 0
So, the value is 0
(d) 39 ÷ 13 + 10
= 3 + 10
= 13
So, the value is 13
(e) 42 × 6 ÷ 3
= 42 × 2
= 84
So, the value is 84
(f) 63 – 3 × 21
= 63 – 63
= 0
So, the value is
(g) 100 – 40 ÷ 5
= 100 – 8
= 92
So, the value is 92
Question no – (2)
Solution :
(a) 11 – 6 ÷ 2 × 3
= 11 – 3 × 3
= 11 – 9
= 2
(b) 30 ÷ 3 + 6 × 3 – 10
= 10 + 6 × 3 – 10
= 10 + 18 – 10
= 18
(c) 18 × 20 ÷ 4 – 55
= 18 × 5 – 55
= 90 – 55
= 35
(d) 14 – 21 ÷ 7 + 4 × 2
= 14 – 3 + 4 × 2
= 14 – 3 + 8
= 11 + 8
= 19
(e) 82 – 42 ÷ 21 × 2
= 82 – 2 × 2
= 82 – 4
= 78
(f) 20 × 5 + 15 × 4 – 130
= 100 + 60 – 130
= 160 – 130
= 30
Simplifications and Average Exercise 9.2 Solution
Question no – (1)
Solution :
(a) 18, 24, 32, 46
= 18 + 24 + 32 + 46/4
= 30
∴ Here, the average is = 30
(b) 36, 50, 54, 77, 83
= 36 + 50 + 54 + 77 + 83/5
= 60
∴ Here, the average is = 60
(c) 1.1, 2.2, 3.3, 4.4, 5.5
= 1.1 + 2.2 + 3.3 + 4.4 + 5.5/5
= 16.5/5
= 3.3
∴ Here, the average is = 3.3
(d) 30, 28, 30, 27, 32, 35, 28
= 30 + 28 + 30 + 27 + 32 + 35 + 28/7
= 30
∴ Here, the average is = 30
(e) 29, 37.1, 42.7, 21, 36.8, 40.5, 31.6
= 29 + 37.1 + 42.7 + 21 + 36.8 + 40.5 + 31.6/7
= 238.7/7
= 34.1
∴ Here, the average is = 34.1
Question no – (2)
Solution :
(a) We know that first ten natural numbers are, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10
Now,
= 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10/10
= 55/10
= 5.5
So, the average of first ten natural numbers is 5.5
(b) We know the first 5 multiples of 5 are, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25
Now,
= 5 + 10 + 15 + 20 + 25/5
= 75/5
= 15
So, the average of first 5 multiples of 5 is 15.
(c) We know, the first five composite numbers are, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10
= 4 + 6 + 8 + 9 + 10/5
= 37/5
= 7.4
Thus, the average of first five composite numbers is 7.4
(d) Mark obtained by 5 friends are,
Sohan = 98 marks
Sona = 96 marks
Sindhu = 84 marks
Pankaj = 72 marks
Prabhjot = 85 marks
∴ Their average mark,
= 98 + 96 + 84 + 72 + 85/5
= 435/5
= 87
So, their average mark is 87
(e) In the given question,
200 cm, 150 cm, 240 cm, 160 cm, 77 cm, 225 cm,
161 cm, 240 cm, 160 cm, 85 cm and 205 cm
∴ Annual average rainfall,
= 200 +150 + 240 +160 + 77 + 225 + 161 + 240 + 160 + 85 + 205/11
= 1903/11
= 173 cm
So, the annual average rainfall of the city is 173 cm.
(f) In the given question,
6 mangoes on an average weigh 1 kg.
Mangoes in 17 kg = ?
∴ In 17 kg there can be,
= 17 × 6
= 102 mangoes
So, 102 mangoes you can expect in 17 kg mangoes.
(g) Given in the question,
The average earning of 12 persons in a month is = Rs. 3400.
Their total earnings in a month = ?
∴ Total earning,
= 12 × 3400
= 40, 800
Therefore, their total earnings in a month will be Rs. 40, 800
