Time and Temperature Exercise 13.1 Solution

Question no – (1) 

Solution :

(a) In the given question,

7 hours into minutes

As we know that,

1 hour = 60 minute

So now,

= 7 × 60

= 420 minute

(b) In the given question,

4 hours 25 minutes into minutes

As we know that,

1 hour = 60 minute

So now,

= 4 hours 25 mi

= 4 × 60 + 25

= 265 minutes

(c) In the given question,

18 minutes into seconds

As we know that,

1 minute = 60 second

So now,

= 18 × 60

= 1080 sec

(d) In the given question,

13 minutes 20 seconds into seconds

As we know that,

1 minute = 60 second

So now,

= 13 × 60 + 20

= 780 + 20

= 800 sec

(e) In the given question,

5 half days into hours

As we know that,

1 day = 24 hours

So now,

= 1/2 × 5 × 24

= 60 hours

(f) In the given question,

2 weeks 4 days into hours

As we know that,

1 day = 24 hours

1 week = 7 days

So now,

= 2 × 7 + 4

= 14 + 4

= 18 × 24

= 432 hours

(g) In the given question,

3 fortnights into days

So now,

= 3 × 14

= 42 days

(h) In the given question,

10 years 9 months into months

As we know that,

1 year = 13 month

So now,

= 10 × 13 + 9

= 130 + 9

= 139 months

(i) In the given question,

8 leap years into days.

As we know that,

1 leap year = 366 days

So now,

= 8 × 366

= 2928 days

Solution :

(a) In the given question,

240 seconds into minutes

As we know that,

60 second = 1 minute

So now,

= 240/60

= 4 minutes

(b) In the given question,

1800 minutes into hours

As we know that,

60 minute = 1 hour

So now,

= 1800/60

= 30 hours

(c) In the given question,

315 seconds into minutes and seconds

As we know that,

60 second = 1 minute

So now,

= 315 second 315/60

= 5 min 15 sec

(d) In the given question,

648 minutes into hours and minutes

As we know that,

60 minute = 1 hours

So now,

= 648/60

= 10 hours 48 minute

(e) In the given question,

156 hours into days and hours

As we know that,

24 hour = 1 day

So now,

= 156/24

= 6 day 13 hour

(f) In the given question,

72 days into months and days

As we know that,

1 month = 30 days

So now,

= 72/30

= 2 months 13 days

(g) In the given question,

2044 days into years and days

As we know that,

1 year = 365 day

So now,

= 2044/365

= 5 year 219 day.

(a) 6 : 30 am in 24 hour clock time,

= 06 : 30

(b) 13 : 20 pm in 24 hour clock time,

= 23 : 55

(4) Write the following in 13-hour clock time.

Solution :

Question no – (1)

Solution :

(a) Given, 2 h 30 min and 1 h 25 min

= 2 h 30 min + 1 h 25 min

= 3 h 55 min

(b) Given, 4h 18 min and 7 h 26 min

= 4h 18 min + 7 h 26 min

= 11 h 44 mint

(c) Given, 9 h 38 min and 6 h 28 min

9 h 38 min + 6 h 28 min

= 15 h 66 mint

= 16 h 6 mint

(d) Given, 7 h 32 min and 6 h 24 min

= 7 h 32 min + 6 h 24 min

= 13 h 56 mint

(e) Given, 10 h 55 min 40 s and 6 h 15 min 26 s

So now,

= 10 h 55 min 40 s + 6 h 15 min 26 s

= 16 h 70 min 66 s

16 h + (1 hour 10 min) + (1 min + 6 s)

= 17 h 11 min 6s

(f) Given, 8h 34 min 36 s and 12 h 34 min 45 s

First, 8h 34 min 36 s + 12 h 34 min 45 s

= 20 h 68 min 81 s

Now, 20 h + (1 h 8 min) + (1 m 21 s)

= 21 h 9 mint 21 s

(a) 5 hour 56 minute – 1 hour 34 minute

= 4 hour 22 minute

(b) 5 hour 33 minute – 2 hour 14 minute

= 3 hour 19 minute

(c) 8 hour 22 minute – 4 hour 45 minute

= 8 hour 22 minute – 4 hour 45 minute

= 3 hour 37 minute

(a) According to question total rain-fall,

4h 30 min

= 9 hour + 2 hour

= 11 hours

Thus, It rained for 11 hours in total.

(b) In the question,

train was scheduled to arrive at = 5 : 20 pm.

It was late by = 3 hours 45 minutes.

Now, 5 : 20 pm + 3 hour 45 minute

= 8 hour : 65 minute

= 8 hour + 1 hour 5 minute

= 9 : 05 pm

So, the train arrive at 9 : 05 pm.

(c) Given in the question,

Total time spend,

1 hour 40 minute

+ 50 minute

1 hour 15 minute

Now, 2 hour + 1 h 45 minute

= 3 hour 45 minute

(d) According to the question,

= 12 hour + 1 hour 10 minute

= 13 : 10 am

or = 01 : 10 am

So, the time will be 13 : 10 am or 01 : 10 am

(e) Duration of the second half,

2 hour 30 minute

Now,

1 hour 90 minute

1 hour 35 min

So, the duration of the second half is 1 hour 35 min.

(f) According to the question,

Magic show began at = 2 : 00 pm

Magic show ended at = 3 : 40 pm.

So now,

Duration of the show,

3 : 40 pm

Thus, the duration of the magic show is 1 hour 40 minute.

(g) According to the question,

The journey by train takes = 6 hours 30 minutes

The journey takes by car = 8 hours 15 minutes

Obviously Car takes longest journey.

Time difference is,

= 8 hours 15 minutes – 6 hours 30 minutes

= 7 hours 75 minutes – 6 hours 30 minutes

= 1 hours 45 minutes

Hence, Car journey takes longer by 1 hours 45 minutes.

(h) Given in the question,

Vaibhav boarded a bus at 5 : 20 pm.

He left the bus at 7 : 35 am the next day

Now, 7 h : 35 min

5 h : 20 min

It was pm → am

So, Total time 12 + 215 hour

= 14 : 15 hour

So, the time spent by him in the bus is 14 : 15 hour

(i) In the question,

The time 3 hours 30 minutes before 9 : 00 pm

It was pm → am

= 14.15 hour

(j) In the question we get,

8th April to 23rd April

= 23rd April – 8th April

(k) In the given question,

Reshma’s school was scheduled to open on 25th March.

But it was postponed by 73 days.

Now, 73 days = 2 moths 13 days

= 6 day + 30 day + 31 day + 6 day

= [25 march + 6 day/march] + [30 day/April] + [31 day/may] + [6 day/June]

= Its 6th June

Thus, the school will open on 6th June.

Solution : 

(a) How long does the train take to run from Delhi to Arrival Mathura?

= Delhi to Mathura → 8 : 50 -7 : 10

= 1h 40 min

(b) How long does the train take to run from Delhi to Gwalior?

= Delhi to Gwalior → 11 : 30 – 7 : 10

= 4h 20 min

(c) How long does the train stop at Gwalior?

= stop at Gwalior → 10 : 30 – 10 : 32

= 2 min

(d) If the train is running late by 40 minutes, at what time will it leave Gwalior?

= it will leave at → 11 : 32 + 40

= 11 : 72

= 12 : 12 pm

(e) How long does the train take to run from Mathura to Agra?

= Mathura to Agra = 9 : 40 – 8 : 53

= 8 : 100
