Question no – (3)

Solution :

The bus that leaves Nashik at 5 o’clock in the morning

We can write 5 o’clock as 5 : 00

The bus reaches Pune that same day at ten thirty in the morning

We can write ten thirty as 10 : 30

Hours :

10

-5
——————–
5

Minute :
30

– 00
——————–
30

Hence, the bus journey take 5 : 30 hour.

Question no – (4)

Solution :

A play that was to start at nine fifteen at night

We can write nine fifteen as 9 : 15

A play was delayed by half an hour

We can write as 0 : 30

We add the delayed time with starting time

Hours :
9
+
——————–
9

Minute :

15
+ 30
——————–
45

Therefore, play start at 9:45 o’clock.

Solution :

A train leaves Mumbai at ten fifteen at night

We can write ten fifteen as 10 : 15 O’clock

A train reaches Nagpur at one forty the next afternoon

Hours in between ten fifteen at night to 12 at night is –

Hours :
12

-1
——————–
1

Minute :
00

– 15
——————–
45

Here we give borrow 1 hour because 15 is not subtracted from 00

So, Hours in between ten fifteen at night to 12 at night is 1:45 hours

And the hours between 12 at night to one forty the next afternoon

If the clock is 24 hour clock then 1:40 at at afternoon can be written as 13:40

Hours :
1

-13
——————–
14

Minute :
45

– 40
——————–
85

60 min = 1 hour

So, here 14 + 1 = 15 hours

remaining 25 min from 85 min

15 : 25 hours train journey takes.

Problem Set 45 :

Question no – (1)

Solution :

(1) 2 hours 30 minutes can be written as 2:30

4 hours 55 minutes can be written as 4:55

Hours :
2

+ 4
——————–
6

Minutes :
30

+ 55
——————–
85

That’s mean 7 h 25 min.

Here we know,

60 min means 1 hour so we add 1 hour in 6 hours

6 + 1 = 7

So, 85 – 60 = 25 min

Addition of 2 hours 30 minutes + 4 hours 55 minutes is 7 hours 25 minutes

(2) 3 hours 50 minutes can be written as 3 : 50

4 hours 20 minutes can be written as 4:20

Hours :
3
+ 4
——————–
7

Minutes :
50
+ 20
——————–
70

That’s mean, 8 h 10 min.

Here we know,

60 min means 1 hour so we add 1 hour in 7 hours

7 + 1 = 8

So, 70 – 60 = 10 min

Addition of 2 hours 30 minutes + 4 hours 55 minutes is 8 hours 10 minutes.

(3) 3 hours 45 minutes can be written as 3:45

1 hours 35 minutes can be written as 1:35

Hours :
3
+1
——————–
4

Minutes :
45
+ 35
——————–
80

That’s mean, 5 ;h 20 min.

Here we know,

60 min means 1 hour so we add 1 hour in 4 hours

4 + 1 = 5

So, 80 – 60 = 20 min

Addition of 3 hours 45 minutes + 1 hour 35 minute is 5 hours 20 minutes.

(4) 4 hours 15 minutes can be written as 4:15

2 hours 50 minutes can be written as 2:50

Hours :
4

+ 2
——————–
6

Minutes :
15

+50
——————–
65

So, time is 7 h 05 min.

Here, we know,

60 min means 1 hour so we add 1 hour in 6 hours

6 + 1 = 7

So, 65 – 60 = 5 min

Addition of 4 hours 15 minutes + 2 hours 50 minutes is 7 hours 5 minutes.

2 hours 40 minutes can be written as 2:40

Hours :
3

– 2
——————–
0

Minutes :
10

– 40
——————–
30

That’s mean, 0 h 30 min.

Here we know,

60 min means 1 hour so we add 1 hour in 10 min

because 40 can not subtracted from 10

So, the answer of 3 hours 10 minutes – 2 hours 40 minutes is 00 hours 30 minutes.

15

+2
——————–
17

Minutes :
45

+ 30
——————–
75

That’s mean, 18 h 15 min.
