Chapter 1.4 : Revathi’s Musical Plants Exercise question Solutions

Question no – (1) 

Answer : 

(a) At first , Revathi’s plant did not look normal and healthy because, – the plants were placed in the shadow, so they could not able to get adequate sunlight for their proper growth.

(b) When Revathi played her favourite raga, the plants began to move because, – the plants were fond of her favourite tune.

(c) Revathi’s grief knew no bounds because, – the plant that had different kind of flower was her most favourite so she asked her every neighbour about that tree.

(d) Revathi was confident of proving her ownership of her pot of plants because, –she knew that if she played her favourite tune on her violin, the plants would respond to it for sure, as the plants were music lovers .

(e) Revathi won the prize for the ‘Best Plant’ because – her plants were the best at looking and were healthiest among all the other plants.

Question no – (2) 

(a) What did Revathi discover about her balsam plants? 

Answer : 

Revathi discovered about her balsam plants that after shifting the pots of plants, they are growing very well day by day and become very healthier. She discovered one more thing that the plants were responding to her music by moving their stems and bending towards her.

(b) Why did she decide to keep her new knowledge ‘a secret’?

Answer : 

She decide to keep her new knowledge a secret because she may thought that nobody would believe her if she told someone about the plants movements towards her music. Else she felt it as her own kind of joy and a bond between her and the plants.

(c) How did the plants respond when Revathi played her favourite tune? 

Answer : 

When Revathi played her favourite tune on her violin, the plants responded to her music by bending all their stems towards her.

(e) How did the plants react to the fast rhythmic music?

Answer : 

When the organizers of the competition were not convinced by Revathi’s word, she found a new way to convince them. She played her favourite tune on her violin and hearing that her beloved plants slowly bent towards her with love. Thus Revathi proved that the plants truly belonged to her.

(f) How did Revathi prove to the organisers of the competition, that the plants truly belonged to her?

Answer : 

It was Revathi’s belief in her convictions that helped her to claim her plants. As she was sure that her beloved plants would respond to her music for sure as they did in her house before, she got her plants back.
